Our History

Our Heritage

Our historic facility was built in 1879 by A.J. Evans, a prolific and well respected builder who lived in Kincardine.  This home was built for Charles Pemberton.  The residence took twice the space of most of the other homes or businesses and was the height of Victorian splendor inside and out.

1929 - The Linklater name becomes associated with funeral service in Kincardine when G. Harvey Linklater purchased the furniture and funeral business owned by W.G. Morrison, which was location at 726 Queen Street.

1946 - The Linklaters purchased the residence at 757 Princes Street, and the funeral home has remained at that location ever since.  2021 makes the 75th anniversary of the funeral home establishment at this location.

1961 - The first addition/renovation was made to the building.  At this time, Harvey's two sons, Harold and Ken were actively engaged in the furniture and funeral business.

1965 - Ken Davey, of Kincardine Township (Armow), served his apprenticeship with Harold Linklater, and graduated from The Banting Institute, University of Toronto, with a Funeral Director's license in 1967.

1982 - After 15 years in the funeral service in Toronto, Ken returned to Kincardine and purchased the business now known as Davey-Linklater Funeral Home Limited.

1994 - A large addition/renovation was completed giving the community a funeral home with a formal chapel, reception centre, wheel chair accessibility, central air conditioning, and on-site parking.

2004 - Ken and Debby Davey retired, selling the funeral home to Dan and Kim McFadden.  Dan and Kim came to Kincardine from Chesley, where they owned and operated McFadden Funeral Home.  Dan graduated in 1996 from Humber College, Toronto. After working in Toronto for 2 years, he returned to Chesley to help his father run his funeral home, then purchased it from his father, in 1999.

2015 - Dan and Kim McFadden began a partnership with Steve and Kendra Tiffin, from the Tiffin Funeral Home in Teeswater.  Steve graduated from Humber College in 1992 and has worked at funeral homes in Ingersoll, North York, Delhi, Waterloo and Wingham.  Steve and Kendra, along with their two sons, Ayden and Rhys, have lived in Teeswater since 2004 and purchased the funeral home there from John and Joan Pollard of MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Homes in 2007.

2017 - Steve and Kendra Tiffin became sole owners of the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home.  Since that time they have completed many updates to many areas of the funeral home, such as the arrangement office, visitation room and reception centre.
